A Few New Year Files

I’m late to the New Year’s Party, but here we go on the ride that is 2015!

First up, Cari Young has re-launched a blog at LibraryFreebies.com for all kinds of library goodies! I posted about my Wacky Reading Calendars, which I revised for 2015. Wacky Reading Calendars include an un-numbered calendar for each month of the year. Each has 30 reading challenges that can be completed in any order. Some challenges are to read a specific title, author or genre. Other challenges encourage students to read in crazy locations like an empty bathtub. The calendar was designed to give students a different way to track their reading when traditional reading logs get tedious. I have used these logs in several different ways. Some months I put out a stack for students to pick up. Other months I have used them to track a whole-school reading promotion.

I was also reminded today that it might be a good time to start a library plan book or calendar. I made a few over the summer that might work for you. Take a look and see what you think! If you’re motivated to get really organized this year, you might want to check out the bundle which includes a variety of library resources.

I haven’t set any specific goals or resolutions for this year. I think I pretty much just want to keep it together! I have a  lot going on this year and my goal is to survive with grace and a cheerful spirit. I’m hoping to keep the blog going. I admit winter is easier because of snow days and summer is easier because of days out of work. I wish all the best for this year! Hang in there until schools are out for summer!
