Accomplishments

I have a very dear cyber-friend who I talk with every evening. Over the weekend I was listing my accomplishments for the day. We discuss even little things like “yes! I took out the trash! go me!”

We’re a little nuts.

I rattled off the things I had gotten done to keep my space happy and get ready for work this week. And then I said, “I’m sure I’ll get to work on Monday and notice all of the things I didn’t get done.”

I do celebrate the little things. I really do. I’m completely thrilled about my Brown Bear, Brown Bear magnet pieces that I’m making for Kindergarten. And about the nonfiction bear magnet set that I’ve made as Brown Bear’s partner for my fiction/nonfiction unit. These were all items I had listed when I rattled off what I had done with my weekend.

But I’m also very aware of what I haven’t yet achieved. The to do list seems dreadfully long.

“Focus on your achievements,” she typed.

Such a wise friend I have.

Focus on your achievements.

More than anyone else, she is most aware of what I have accomplished. Of the time and mental effort those accomplishments have taken.

I hope that you have that friend or partner, too. The one who stands in your corner all the time, every time, and reminds you that you are not drowning in your to do list. That you need to celebrate your achievements.

I was going to write a blog post for today that says, “I’m taking the day off. I just can’t do it today!” and feeling a little down because I wasn’t inspired. But I have plans to BE inspired! I can’t wait to post pics of my nonfiction magnet set for the Kinders. And of my state award wall where I did a display inspired by a colleague. And of my new glitter letters I have marking my Everyone books. So many things I want to post about because this blog has inspired me to try new things.

And for one day I was feeling guilty because I have nothing profound to say. So silly.

I love my cheerleader friend who fills my glass right up over the halfway mark! I hope that you have that as well when you feel like you’re drowning in your lists like I often drown in mine.

Happy Monday! Life is sure wonderful, isn’t it?
